While the treatment offers numerous benefits, it’s important to understand the potential downtime to plan accordingly for your lifestyle and schedule.
The recovery period varies depending on the type and strength of the peel:
Most peels offered at Natalie H Aesthetics involve some downtime but still suit busy women who can resume most normal activities from the next day.
- You may experience mild redness, tightness, sensitivity and dryness for 2-5 days, comparable to a light sunburn with some mild flaking of the skin for the first week. Light Make-up can usually be applied the next day if needed. While you can resume most activities from the next day there are some exceptions.
- Avoid sun exposure for a minimum of a week, wear SPF 30/50 everyday and re-apply at lunchtime if possible. It is assumed that daily SPF is an everyday part of your routine already.
- Staying out of the sun is THE most important and essential aspect of looking aftre your skin post treatment. Your skin is healing and sun exposure won’t only compromise your results but will damage your skin. I cannot emphasise this enough
- No exercise for 48 hours as the heat will compromise your results. No intense outdoor activities such as cycling or hiking for a minimum of a week in order to avoid the heat and sun exposure
To optimise your recovery and results, it’s crucial to follow the aftercare instructions provided. These include:
- Avoiding direct sunlight and applying sunscreen diligently.
- Using gentle, hydrating skincare products to support healing. (Complimeantary 3 day use aftercare cream is provided)
- Refraining from picking or peeling at flaking skin to prevent irritation or scarring.
- Avoiding exercise for 48 hours post-treatment.
- Avoiding intense outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, oudoor padel for a week. Once resumed, SPF protection/hats are a must.
